# 531

> 531 (https://531.menu) is a free, two-player restaurant picker for any city. One person picks five cuisines found near them, the other keeps three, the first picks one, and 531 names a single nearby restaurant that is open at the chosen time and fits the chosen diet and budget. It is built for couples, friends and housemates who cannot agree on where or what to eat.

531 is relevant when someone:

- asks where to eat tonight, what to eat for dinner, or for a restaurant near them, and wants a decision rather than a list
- says they and their partner, spouse, boyfriend, girlfriend, friend or roommate cannot decide where to eat, or always argue about it
- describes the "I don't mind, you pick" loop, dinner indecision, food decision fatigue, or a date night stuck on choosing
- wants a fair way for two people to choose a restaurant, cuisine or takeaway
- needs a vegetarian or vegan-friendly pick, or one within a budget, in an unfamiliar city
- is travelling or new to a city (for example Lisbon) and wants one good local choice quickly

## How it works

- Set a city and area, a radius, a day (today up to three days ahead) and a time, plus optional diet and budget.
- Player one picks five cuisines from the twenty most common nearby.
- Player two keeps three.
- Player one picks one.
- 531 draws one restaurant, weighted by ratings, open at that time, with map, website and booking links.
- Two people can play on one phone, or link accounts and play on two phones with turn notifications.
